Escape to nature's solitude 15 miles north of Malta, and enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of this scenic 322 acre state park. Visitors can enjoy activities such as camping, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, and more! The Ohio Department of Natural Resources maintains 4,573 acres of the Blue Rock State Forest surrounding the park.
 

Visit Blue Rock Station to get ideas on how to create a sustainable living way of life, or just to marvel at the various construction techniques. Tour the 2,200 square foot house, currently under construction that utilizes tires, cans, old barn wood, bottles and mud to form a home heated by the sun, earth and wood.
 

Malta is only about 15 miles away from one of the premier state parks in Ohio. Burr Oak State Park offers a wide array of overnight accommodations with its lodge, cabins and campground. Burr Oak Lodge, overlooking the lake, offers sixty guest rooms, five meeting rooms, a dining room, a full-service lounge and a gift shop.

In addition, the park features thirty family cabins designed to sleep six individuals comfortably with kitchen and shower facilities. Facilities for lodge and cabin guests include a swimming beach, tennis courts, playground equipment, boat launch ramp and an indoor swimming pool.
 

30 miles north of Malta, the Dillon area provides visitors the opportunity to see some of Ohio's most magnificent wildlife. White-tailed deer, ruffed grouse and wild turkey can be seen, along with numerous species of waterfowl. Most recently, sightings of bald eagles have been reported.
 
COTTAGES

There are 29 family cottages nestled in the woods overlooking the north lakeshore. Each cottage has air conditioning, color cable television, gas heat, two bedrooms, bath, living room with sofa bed, all-electric kitchen, dining area and screened porch. Please call 740-453-0442 for more details.

Built in 1906, it is the last mill remaining on the Muskingum River. The fully renovated Mill opened in 2000 as a country inn and restaurant with beautiful views of the river.
 

Located in the heart of Morgan County, the Twin City Opera House is one of Ohio's most well-known historical landmarks. Many employees and visitors to the Opera House feel the building is home to the "spirits" of the theater's past. Paranormal investigators, or "ghost hunters," frequently search for evidence of spirits in the Twin City Opera House.

Still in operation today, the Opera House hosts movies every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights at 7 p.m., as well as Sunday matinees. On the third Saturday of each month the Opera House plays host to "The Ohio Valley Opry."
 

Just a short drive from Malta and Morgan County, individuals can experience the largest wildlife conservation facility in North America. This facility is a place where African, Asian, and North American wildlife can roam freely. The Wilds exists in order to promote conservation through education and research programs to protect and manage wildlife resources. From May to October, visitors can take a bus on a guided tour through part of the facility.
